Shopping with Mum

I spent a great day in Exeter with my Mum doing a spot of early Christmas shopping, but mainly to check out the brand new John Lewis which opened a couple of weeks ago.

It is a really impressive building and lifts the whole shopping area of Exeter. As you can imagine it was absolutely packed with people, some just taking a look and others doing some serious shopping. I bought a few stocking fillers and Christmas decorations from John Lewis, but I was also in love with a couple of desks - I still desperately need my own for my sewing machine! From the top floor cafe, with sun deck, you get a fantastic view of Exeter and the countryside beyond.

Another shop we popped into was Hollister. I know that at 39 I am no longer young, but I do try to have a young outlook, but I just didn't get this shop. It's dark, apart from hot spotlights and so you can't see the true colour of anything. At £29 for a t-shirt, this is not a shop I will be returning to.

If you have time to kill in Exeter, a great place to go is the newly renovated museum which is free to enter and houses a diverse collection of objects from stuffed animals to a medieval dog skull.

Exeter is a beautiful city and is a great place to visit or for shopping!
