iphone case

I have had a bit of a making lull whilst it has been so hot, but I should have made this case over a week ago. This is my first phone case! I ditched the padding that I have used in my kindle cases and used fleece instead. It is so much better in a smaller product - much less bulky.

Rowing on Wimbleball Lake

We have been so blessed with the sun this week, and after spending all day yesterday in the garden, gardening, playing and barbecuing, we decided that today we should go out. We were all up so late and this pretty much ruled the beach out, because it's early or don't bother at all!

So, we went off to Wimbleball Lake which is about an hour's drive through some beautiful countryside. Why is it, when it is hot, I am so attracted to water? Once there, we headed straight to the lakeside to hire a rowing boat:

Such fun messing about in boats. I didn't do much rowing, and what I did do was mostly in circles! The lake was so still as you see from my photos. It's such a shame it wasn't suitable for swimming in.

I must get back to my sewing machine at some point, as I have an order for an iphone case to fulfill, but I just feel too hot at the moment.

Hope you are enjoying this lovely weather too.

The Olympic Torch

What a glorious evening for the Olympic torch to visit Taunton! Me and the boys waiting around for 2 1/2 hours for it to finally arrive in the town centre. We stood on the town bridge. There was a lot of sponsor publicity before the actual flame came through.

At one point I heard that Will I Am was running, but we were stood at quite a distance (15 or so metres) from where he finished and the next started. It all happened behind the Olympic bus, so we had no chance of getting a glimpse.

However, this is what we did see:

T Shirt Pictures

Yesterday, we had a big clearout of all the clothes that didn't fit my children. You wouldn't believe how big a pile we ended up with! Most of Albert's clothes were good enough to fit Fred, so he now has a wardrobe in waiting! The rest have either been thrown or bagged up for the charity shop. I saved a couple of Fred's T shirts, because I thought they might make good pictures. What do you think?

When he has tired of the whole rock and guitar thing, we can change them for another castoff!

Craft Fair and weekend

Friday evening I had a stall at A Taste of Somerset, a craft and food event. It was quite buzzing but I didn't sell as much as I had hoped to. Craft fairs are really hit or miss for me - I tend to have a couple of really good ones where I sell amazingly, and the rest I don't even cover my fee. The good thing about it was that I did get to talk to a few stallholders, specifically, I Love Bags and Somerset Biltong.

Today, I have been rephotographing some of my jewellery outside in the sun. Unfortunately, my cat, Atticus, is like a magpie and is drawn to all things shiny, and I had a bit of a job keeping him away:

I am really hoping that tomorrow I will be able to blog about seeing the Olympic torch, as it is going through Taunton, tomorrow evening. Here is the link to the official route: Route .

I had this sudden impulse to make bread at the weekend, and subsequently found a recipe for schiacciata which I thought would be great for a lunch outside in the sunshine. And it is a really easy bread to make. Oh boy, it smelt good in the oven with the rosemary leaves on it and, how lovely it looked when it came out of the oven:
But sadly, it had no taste at all. Not even the rosemary (which was on just half the bread because my fussy boys don't like herbs!), or the good quality olive oil could be tasted. Absolutely zilch in the taste department.

So, are any of you regular breadmakers, and if so, do you have any tips on making tasty bread?

More Cushions

I have a craft fair in just over a week's time and so I have been making, making, making in order to have a variety of stock. These cushions are the last things I will make, as I now have to concentrate on pricing up all the things that aren't priced and getting my display right.

These two cushions are very different styles - one is exotic, the other more scandinavan in style:

The exotic cushion was made from a pillowcase that I spotted in Homesense. The cotton fabric is unbelievably soft, and I still have some black fabric left.
I have had some requests for various jewellery recently: one is to make three bracelets for bridesmaids for a wedding in June, another is to have a necklace adpated, and my sister has sent me a stash of beads to make some earrings. I will let you know how I get on with these.

Arnos Vale Cemetery

This may seem a macabre family day out, but we went to the famed Arnos Vale Cemetery in Bristol today. My husband grew up near it and I was keen to have a look around this gothic cemetery. Much of the cemetery is overgrown with some gravestones being barely visible under moss and ivy. Many of the trees date back to the Victorian times when it first opened.

Here are some of my photos. Out of respect, I only photographed really old gravestones.

An absolutely beautiful place, and well worth a visit. There is also a good cafe on site which offers delicious light lunches and cakes at very reasonable prices.

Catnip Mouse

My maine coon cat, Atticus, turned two this week and I bought a little catnip mouse from Molly's Mice - a UK seller on Etsy. She sells a nice variety of fabric patterned mice - I chose a union jack one. This is how much he liked it!

Hope you are all enjoying your bank holiday weekend!
