Folksy Friday: Tour de France

I am loving the Tour de France highlights on ITV4 (shame that work gets in the way, otherwise I would watch it all day). So in honour of this, my Folksy Friday is bicycle themed. Next week, I will be watching it in Spanish, so there will be no more Folksy Fridays until August!

Winding Down

 I have not listed anything in either of my shops this week, because I am supposed to be winding down to go on holiday. However, I cannot imagine not making jewellery for two whole weeks, so I am debating whether to take a little portable thing with me. I have also been thinking about googling bead shops in Northern Spain!

I will be back in August, making stock to fill Emma Williams Bridal Jewellery shop as well as thinking about Christmas items!!!

Folksy Friday: Here Comes the Bride!

Wedding season is in full swing and brides and grooms all over the country keep their fingers crossed for sunny weather. Well, I have trawled Folksy and found some of my wedding favourites. I also want to do a shoutout for Marry Me Wedding Stationery, who has some stunning invitations (my favourites are the Butterfly lace one and Silver Strands).

So, I thought I would finish this post with a picture of me in my wedding dress in 1995. I had the dress made by a fantastic seamstress called Joan Herrington who transformed my ideas into a dress!

Shopping Secrets: My Favourite Bead Shops!

Well, I'm not revealing all my secrets (!), but would like to share my personal favourite bead shops.Montana Cushion 20x14mm

My most favourite, and the one that I have used most and return to again and again is Bluestreak Beads. Their service is quick (I ordered supplies on Friday afternoon and received them Saturday morning) and the quality of their beads is fantastic. When I first taught myself to make jewellery, I started by using their guide, firstly with elastic bracelets. Here are some of the things I have bought and loved from Bluestreak (images below):

Seven things I have done this week...3rd July 2011

This week I have:
  • Completely tidied my messy bedroom (see Before & After)!!
After: Blissfully tidy!
Before: What a filthy mess!
  • had a picnic style lunch with my youngest child, and my Mum;
  • mountain biked the Challenge trail at Haldon Forest Park near Exeter (and only got off to walk twice!)
  • had a relaxed summer barbecue in the garden with friends;
  • taken my jewellery to work and sold seven pieces, and had orders for two more!
  • watched a fantastic Japanese film called Confessions about a very complicated and sophisticated revenge plot;
  • for the first time ever, had over 600 views on a pair of earrings overnight!

    Folksy Friday: We all scream for Ice Cream!

    There's nothing better in the hot weather, than an ice cream. We still get the ice-cream van round now and again and sometimes you just have to have a real Mr Whippy! But, for those ice cream lovers who are watching their weight, here are some non-edible but very scumptious ones.
