So, I finally finished the invitations, with their silver dots and swirls which look beautifully decadent, and sent them up to my sister, Amy. And lo and behold I received in the post today a black envelope containing my own invite to her party! I have received a lovely bottle of Champagne as thanks.
My gingerbread house had pride of place on the Governors' gingerbread stall at the Christmas fayre. I drew up a grid system with names of local streets written on and the children then had to guess which street the gingerbread house was in. A great success!

Bake: The Gingerbread House

I am a parent governor at a local primary school where one of my children attends. As a governing body we are to show our commitment and support to the PTA who raise thousands for the school every year. I volunteered some months ago to make a Gingerbread house to raffle off (I always volunteer to do things like this and quake in my boots as the time draws near!). Anyway, to cut a long story short, I bought a gingerbread house kit which "simply" needed assembling. So, armed with cocktail sticks and a tube of Silver Spoon designer Icing, I began...

If you only do one thing with your children in the run up before Christmas - do this!

I have been asked to make some invitations for my sister's 30th Birthday next summer, which she wants to send out before Christmas! Yes, that is early. I do love this sort of request, a bit of a challenge. I am known to dabble in this kind of crafty thing, making cards and jewellery but am wondering if this one may be a little over my head.

Drawing on the fact that she wants them a bit Art Deco, I have decided on a black background, with white print (Parisian font). In addition, she would like them hand finished with silver spirals. I have received a consignment of a variety of shimmering dots and silver stones with which to embellish them with, but my main concern is how to get the main print done.
UPDATE: Parisian font didn't transfer well to the printer and I can't find any way to print white ink, so my solution is to stick the invitation to black card and then embellish with the silver. Hope it's a good party - only 8 months to go...
